Yes you should have your teeth cleaned prior to teeth whitening. This will make sure your teeth are clean and the whitening gel can effectively work on the teeth.
If there is a build up of plaque, calculus and tartar your teeth will not whiten.

With home whitening we recommend you brush and floss prior to remove any plaque build up.

This means certain foods, drinks and smoking can re-stain your teeth.
If you want your teeth whitening to last even longer you can use our take home whitening products to top up your results before you have a special event or occasion.

No teeth whitening should not hurt! The teeth whitening products/gels we use contain a desensitiser to help manage any sensitivity.
We also use isolation methods to protect your gums and tissues from the whitening gels that can irritate them. If needed we will also prescribe a desensitiser for home use.
If you have had teeth whitening before and it was painful or uncomfortable please let us know so we can manage your concerns and prevent this from occurring during your appointment with us.

Yes you can have your teeth whitened if you have teeth sensitivity, when making an appointment with us you will be seen by a trained dental hygienist who can help manage, assess and treat the sensitivity.
Please let us know at your appointment or prior to your appointment if you do experience teeth sensitivity so we can make the best recommendation for you.

We recommend one week before a big event as it will give us enough time to decide if further teeth whitening sessions are needed.
If you have very yellow teeth or shades of grey from antibiotic staining please note you may require a longer period of 2-3 weeks to help lift the shade.

After having your teeth professionally whitened it is recommended to avoid colour staining foods and drinks for 24 hours. This includes:
Smoking
Red wine
Coffee/tea
Soy, curry, pasta sauce
Cola and soft drinks
A general rule is to avoid any foods and drinks that could stain a white shirt for the next 24 hours.
